Unblinking Eyes: Thoughts Of Spiders…[ Spiders; Idle Moments; Memories; Nature ] Poem by Bri Edwards

Unblinking Eyes: Thoughts Of Spiders…[ Spiders; Idle Moments; Memories; Nature ]

Rating: 5.0

Each of three days I've spied a spider ‘idly sitting'…..
…in a web strung between branches. Was it knitting?
[ I don't think it was. ]Was it looking back at me ….
…through the window where I was gazing at its tree?

[ What WAS it doing? ]Some will say it was waiting there,
waiting for an insect to fly or stumble into its sticky lair.
The web's vibrations would alert Spider then to hurry ….
…to bind and inject its catch, turning its guts to ‘insect curry'.

But, what thoughts, if any, was ‘my spider' then thinking,
as it sat there, watching me watching it, eyes unblinking?
Was it awake or napping, and, if napping, dreaming? ?
Through my mind the possibilities have been streaming.

Was it having this thought:"My, this is a gorgeous day! "?
Was it remembering its mom and when it used to play ….
…outside with some of its ninety-seven siblings?
Did it recall a picnic with lots of yummy nibblings? ?

These and other questions about Spider I'll go on thinking ….
…if today I spy my spider spying me, our eyes unblinking.

Thoughts are like spider web and these capture emotion. We think and even we cannot capture features of spider web. After deeply perceiving spider's life and spider-web, you have brilliantly penned this excellent poem. There are lots of questions about spider's life but through mind the possibilities have been streaming. An excellent and wonderful poem is shared...10

Sounds like you have made a new friend there BRI but who was the one who was idly sitting? me thinks it was you so it was a good job your wife never caught you, But then there again she was probably to busy knitting.

Spiders...they are different. Unlike many creatures, the spider does not seem to mind us....It seems to love people watching. This verse goes to myfavourites, Bri.

I wonder did it remember eating its siblings lol but such is the spidery life the survival of the fittest is not always the fittest way to go. I loved the idea of the spider watching you as you watched it. Of course it may be making plans for world domination one human at a time starting first with you! ! ! !

Bri,10+ for your Spider poem! In your honor, please accept this tribute. whenever I see Bri silently sitting, i will now know that he is spider thinking, trying hard to unravel one simple life which may even be more complex and rife with mystery than that which we call our own a person capable of contemplating the simple things the world is offering, owns a caring and charming soul that is always willing to give and dole friendship and wisdom we all proudly wish to own
