Apology To Nona … [ As Directed, Sort Of, By My Mate, Nona's Mom; Medium Length] Poem by Bri Edwards

Apology To Nona … [ As Directed, Sort Of, By My Mate, Nona's Mom; Medium Length]

Rating: 5.0

Yes, maybe make this into a poem. Maybe it will be fun?
Nona, your mom keeps saying ‘Apologize. You're the one
….who should be responsible to do it. You are OLD! '.

So maybe I'd better knuckle under and do what I'm told?

Tonight she isn't speaking to me & hopes I'll return favor.
At least she's fixing supper; it's sure to have a fine flavor.
I may not tell her that I've made this apology tonight;
sometimes it seems nothing that I do is (for her) right!

Ok, before I forget ….my APOLOGY: 'Nona, I'm so sorry! '
'Sorry for what? ', you may now ask.

Maybe, searching your mind's deep recesses, you'll guess ….
it has to do with a couple of scuffles this year [a real ….MESS! ],
between me and you, Nona, AND the water on your head!
But I hope you know that some times with you are filled with
…..DREAD!

Well, 'dread' may be a bit strong. 'Stress' will cover it.
I may at times act like an ass, but you can act like a shit!
Oops! Did I do it again? Perhaps 'shit' is a bit 'strong'?

Maybe it'd be better if NEITHER of us admitted ANY ….
…….‘WRONG'? ? ?

Let me clue you in a little. 'Mom' ain't always right!
Of course, such thinking by me can cause, here, a 'fight' …
between 'Mom' and your dear sweet 'step-dad'.
If I weren't so cold-hearted, I might say it makes me sad.

I think you already KNOW about 'how Mom can be',
since she is your and your sister's mom. Yes, you three …
know the score. [RIGHT? ]
But she often IS 'right'. And I often am too, I dare say.
Unfortunately NO ONE can always have her or his way.

I love your mom, though she can be a hard pill to …..swallow.
And I believe she loves me, though she doesn't.....allow ….
…herself to say it much.

I'm TOO LOUD for her. I have TOO BIG AN EGO for her …
....(so she seems to think) .
She accuses me of going out of my way to NOT concur.

After the last 'VERY BAD days' stay' you had here, she said:
‘When you drive her to bus, don't speak to her! '. I pled(OR 'plead'?) .....….
with her to let me converse with you. [Ok, I didn't do …..THAT.]
'Mom' said: ‘If she speaks, just wave your hand as a sign ….
that you aren't speaking to her! ' Honest, she said that.

So, instead of being able to communicate ‘bout stuff,
we (N and B) suffered from lack of communication. Trouble it was.
I thought the bus was due earlier, thought you weren't …..alert,
thus causing more trouble between us! Yes, MORE ……‘HURT'.

THEN 'Mom' forbade me to communicate with either …
you OR your sister! ! So for months I contacted neither!
Not that I've been a ‘close' stepdad. Not in the least.
But your Mom added, to the ‘bad-feelings-dough',
……'yeast'!

Last time you were here (a visit only for a few hours) ….
'Mom' said you were turned off as my words soured …....
towards her.
[Hey, it is something which at times happens here and 'it......takes 2.....…to tangle', ........or is that 'tango'? ]

I COULD say a lot more. I could take more blame. Don't...
...... HOLD your breath waiting!
I could also lay more blame on you and 'Mom'. I could …
.......SCOLD the two of you!
But that would not help any of us, most of all not ME.
So I send now this apology. It ain't perfect, but it is....FREE!

You don't need to respond; I might prefer that you don't.
But perhaps a little note acknowledging receipt? It won't …
…kill ya to do that.

Your mom thinks you and I cannot be in the same room?
Perhaps she's afraid something else might go BOOM!
I don't agree. Nothing ventured, nothing gained?

You seem to be over-obsessed with rhyming. You are gifted with a sense of humour and that is enough for us readers. You seem to realize your penchant for rhyming - I can see that from your dilemma between pled and plead! And, the titles of your poems speak of long historical references, which I can't understand. Here is my (10) for the humour that you so merrily sprinkle at PH. Please remain humorous and make us tickle our ribs.

Does Nona ever read your poetry? Will she ever see the apology posted here on Poem Hunter? Since apparently you aren't allowed to speak to her!

well, .............normally i NEVER Reply to comments, except [and i ALWAYS do this] to send a responsive message directly to the commenter. but, i'll do the former this time, AND the latter later! i don't know if Nona ever visits PH, but i once put one of HER poems (with her assent) into my poem list. it is a favorable poem about me as a stepfather. NO, i did not write it. she did! so, now i wait to see if she acknowledges my poem, and HOW she responds, if she does. then, maybe i'll tell her mom. bri :)
