David Musoke Poems

Crimson red drops stain his armor
Like a flood the enemy washes over their defenses
The night sky is clear and the moonlight illuminates their blades and spears
The night is quiet but their shouts make melody with their boots as they make their approach
...

Blindfolded with darkness and uncertainty I cling onto fate's rope
With every aching step I push forward...or is it backwards
Can I risk letting go of his rope so that I can remove the blindfold?
Does hope await my arrival in the valley of joy at the end of his rope?
...

Like a vapor before a scorching sun so are our trifling efforts under the same
Tears streak down our cheeks in testimony to the burdens our hearts bear without respite
The future will become the present and the same will be the past and still sorrow and pain shackle our dreams and hopes
I toil for its a mandate...a royal decree passed down from generations before me
...

She twists the words of my tongue with her lips
Her words poison my heart with darkness and hate
Images once imaginations in reality are borne
My heart’s cry is feeble and my defiance is as butter facing a knife
...

Why do your memories still haunt my waking dreams?
If I sleep in darkness will I still dream of the light?
Daily my heart is rent by memories of the future that is not
Lurking in the shadows of your happiness I hide behind the mask that you have given me
...

Shackled by fate, his sword grows heavier in his hands
Cries of his kinsmen fill the night air as death shows his hand
A tear of regret drops on its soft petals as he is taunted by shadows of despair and whispers of silence
She was always before him even as chaos overtook their world

How long will my punishment last?
Do my brethren share my fate?
My arms grow weary but I get no respite
My life is constantly before my eyes despite it all
...

Why does the light fade before my eyes?
My outstretched hands grabs the hem of her garment as she says goodbye
Resolution reached too late, the path of my escape is now blocked
Hope grows dim as the shadow of despair gains strength in the darkness
...

Screams of agony fill the air as he runs through the woods
Panting as he sits on a felled tree he feels them not
Ambition and youthful vigor had been torn from his side
He knows not the enemy he runs from, all he knows is he must
...

I catch a glimpse of providence and my heart rejoices
She beckons me towards hope..towards freedom
My heart ignores the cries of my weary body as it races towards her light
Their footsteps grow louder as her light brightens piercing my longing soul
...

If only she would go
If only she would stay
Why does my mind wander in this land of lost thoughts
My strength fades as I thirst in this barren land
...

Nations at war, kinsman against kindred
Evil of all kind is revealed at his command
His presence glorifies whosoever seeks him with all he has
Who is he that we all seek in our lifetime
...

He is on a quest to rid the land of a dark rider
His robes are radiant without blemish
The quest is long and demanding but the rider falters not
Hunger and fatigue overcome his flesh; he steals for his quest is noble
...

This time i will surely do it
I embrace procrastination and once more she slips out of my reach
Is she change I wonder or will change give me more of her
The longer I wait the further away she takes my dreams
...

15.

Staring into the distance I meet her gaze
Why does darkness surround her
In an instant she was no more
My phoenix, to ashes she has turned
...

With a divine scent her presence is announced
'Tonight your fate is sealed, ' her lips announced
Shackled to a wall of memories my strength ebbs as I face her mirror of desire
Does it reflect my being I wonder...I see a reflection of my desire
...

Questions we all have to ponder
Answers we all have to wonder
Life is all but tender
Beauty, truth and respect we all seem to yearn for
...

18.

Could it be found in the sunrise?
Is it found in compromise?
I was once told it could be found in promise
It has been sought by many and found by so few
...

Eyes clouded in darkness, alone he stands
Steel swords ravage his body but alas it still hasn't shone
Kinsmen scream in agony names of loved ones
His knees weaken as life's essence drips onto his muddy boots

The Best Poem Of David Musoke

The Last Stand

Crimson red drops stain his armor
Like a flood the enemy washes over their defenses
The night sky is clear and the moonlight illuminates their blades and spears
The night is quiet but their shouts make melody with their boots as they make their approach
Alone he stands, kinsmen slain but he still holds as the flood approaches
'Do my ancestors watch over me', he wonders
Tightly gripping his sword he raises a shout of a thousand
Like a pebble on beach he will be washed aside
'But it will be glorious', he says as he runs none by his side
In his death, Hades accepts his offering of thousands
In his death, valor commands the rest and fate was pleased
