The Light Eaters Poem by David Musoke

The Light Eaters

I catch a glimpse of providence and my heart rejoices
She beckons me towards hope..towards freedom
My heart ignores the cries of my weary body as it races towards her light
Their footsteps grow louder as her light brightens piercing my longing soul
With silent efficiency they attain their goal again
O weak heart of mine...am undone yet again
My darkness grows within with every fading light
I will soon consume hope and spread darkness till i am no more
Slowly i turn into what a despise...a light eater
