At The Mercy Of Fate Poem by David Musoke

At The Mercy Of Fate

Blindfolded with darkness and uncertainty I cling onto fate's rope
With every aching step I push forward...or is it backwards
Can I risk letting go of his rope so that I can remove the blindfold?
Does hope await my arrival in the valley of joy at the end of his rope?
With all my strength I lay hold of the rope that fate has laid for me

On my knees weary from this uncertain journey I open my mouth to cry for help
Fear, uncertainty and darkness snatch the cry from my lips
Who will deliver me from fate's journey
Am I destined to travel at his mercy all of my days
All this I say and yet not a word is uttered

I gather my strength for this I must do
Accepting the destination of fate I must not
Removing the blindfold fate put on my eyes I finally see
Only darkness, uncertainty and despair surrounds me
Is fate trying to protect me or is he my captor?
Alas, at the mercy of fate I still remain
