The White Rider Poem by David Musoke

The White Rider

He is on a quest to rid the land of a dark rider
His robes are radiant without blemish
The quest is long and demanding but the rider falters not
Hunger and fatigue overcome his flesh; he steals for his quest is noble
A little evil for the greater good he says
Weary other riders he encounters whose spirits have been broken
Greater evil he does for the greater good he says
To a village he rides, the dark rider cometh a villager screams
Younger riders pursue him as he heads for the valleys
He dismounts his horse to drink and sees the dark rider he sought
Robes dark from evil and soul as darkness
How had he become that which he sought
