The Paper God Poem by David Musoke

The Paper God

Nations at war, kinsman against kindred
Evil of all kind is revealed at his command
His presence glorifies whosoever seeks him with all he has
Who is he that we all seek in our lifetime
Why does he reveal our true self?
He is used to exalt other gods
He is sought without being sought
We glorify him without trying
We desire him so that we may be desired
Daily we meditate upon works written about him
Daily devotions to him we offer up
He has a hold of fear over us, with which he controls us
Fear is his main ally, defeat him and you battle no more
We are constantly in a battle with or against him
He is vengeful as he is ruthless
Constantly he watches over us, mocking us, testing us
Absolution is ours if we but dare
