When I Think of You

I picture your wet, coal-black nose,
I see your shining, intelligent eyes,
I visualize your sable-colored ears,
I picture your long, graceful body.
And I see your tail, waving, like a flag.

I imagine how you would wake me up:
By licking me gently, until I awake.
Throwing back my covers,
I allow you to lie upon my bed,
All the while I get ready for the day.

Keiko, my darling girl,
You are a sweet bundle of love,
With a taste for food,
The most charming dog I have ever had,
My heart, is all for you.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

I love Keiko, my German shepherd so much! I haven't written many a poem about my love for my pets, so here is the one of the first ones.
Perhaps poems might be more enjoyable when they are written from the heart?

I love the mood in this one. You're describing something that most would consider energetic in a very calm, soothing way. Your diction is very clear, and I like that ^.^ (Report) Reply

This poem sure is sweet, like you! You never told me about Keiko before though. I suppose that all of your friends knew that already though. Even if you have been giving me a cold shoulder lately, I still like your poems, and I'm giving you a 10. (Report) Reply
