Waiting To Be Loved - Poem by Quame Boatmann

I wait to be loved
I yearn to be loved
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

She’s been a girl on a swing
With a long broken wing
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

Her heart has been tossed
And to love, she has paused
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

She stands tall to my gaze
And her demeanour, I’m amaze
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

In her head is wisdom
And to cling means freedom
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

With her, the future is bright
Oh my! My choice was right
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

She’s a paradigm of aid
Whom I dare not to trade
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

I’ve stayed clean enough
And I pray to triumph
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

She’s always on my mind
And I’ll take her heart and bind
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

I pray she finds me
For bad is ‘plan B’
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

Twice she’d been abuse
And I wish it’s a ruse
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

My love is known to her
Knowing hers won’t be unfair
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

Oh she fears to give a nod
Even though I fear the Lord
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

I’m being stretched like a tyre
And now I feel like I tire
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

Though I yearn for response
I know not when it’ll pronounce
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

So I’ll lay low till time
Even for now I’ve no dime
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

But I fear I will break
When I break, I’ll be fake
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

I love her, I can’t pretend
To voice out, will reach her end
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

wherever she goes, I’ll wait
So I’ll hold on like am bait
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

I have my codes, I’m not to blame
For health wise, else I be lame
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

But still I see our altar
Strongly built and won’t falter
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

We’ll build life together
And have joy forever
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain

I wait to be loved
I yearned to be loved
This has been a pain
Yet I hope to have gain
