Sally With Arachnophobia ..... [spiders; Sally Plumb Plumb; Fantasy; Humor? ; Medium -Short]

Rating: 5.0

As Sally shinnied up a tree....
to hunt honey made by bee,
she stumbled and fell into a web,
and was found by a spider, ....Zeb.

Said Zeb to his brand new catch,
'Stay put; I've got to go and fetch....
some condiments I dearly love....
to have with what falls...from above.'

'I'll NOT stay put, you damn spider! '
said Sally, her guts churning inside her.
But Zeb was used to some disagreement,
and off to his pantry.....Zeb then went.

Poor Sally struggled to no avail;
all that she tried....seemed to fail.
The spider returned with mustard,
salt and pepper, and....some custard.

'Please, oh PLEASE, don't eat poor me.
I'll be missed on PoemHunter, don't you see? '

'PoemHunter? ' Zeb then said in surprise.
'You are a poet, and not related to flies? '

'Oh no' said Sally, her mind racing.
'No flies in my family tree, which I've been tracing.'

'Ok. I see. Then I'll let you go, but FIRST,
write a poem saying spiders aren't the worst....
kind of animal that ever lived on Earth.
We just eat flies and such, ....for what it's worth.'

And Sally did.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
"PH member Sally Plumb Plumb (could that be her REAL name?) sent me the following comment on my poem 'Spider, Spinning, Smiling':

'I'm scared of spiders.......so i can appreciate your poem.'

that comment and admission of 'fear of spiders' aka 'arachnophobia' made my mind spin out this poem as part of my response to her comment. thanks, Sally! bri :)

'Please, oh PLEASE, don't eat poor me. I'll be missed on PoemHunter, don't you see? ' This part I really liked! Did Sally write a poem on spider, I wonder? I believe even spiders have some respect for poets!

lol A very entertaining poem. Now I have to go read your 'Spider, Spinning, Smiling' poem. I actually like spiders, as long as I don't see them inside my house. I'm not sure my poetry would be enough to protect me from a poetry loving spider. btw I think shinnied in the first line may be the wrong word? It's a hockey game, according to my dictionary. shinny noun, plural shinnies. 1. a simple variety of hockey, played with a ball, block of wood, or the like, and clubs curved at one end. 2. the club used verb (used without object) , shinnied, shinnying. 3. to play shinny. 4. to drive the ball at shinny.

shinny (verb) : ': to move oneself up or down something vertical (such as a pole) especially by alternately hugging it with the arms or hands and the legs' I miss you Darlene! ;)
