Blue Leopard

Silver Cheetah, so this is Georgia?
Chase the Greyhound to a home you never had
no pets allowed, back in the crowd
blue leopard, black crescent guitar
midnight highways knew it all along
kiss me back together silver river leopard
blue so far from home
listening to the cold
play charge my dreams back up
bottle feed, rescue me from this
Georgia looks prettier out the window

Oh, maybe we'll come back to you someday,
get a truck and a barn full of hay
get a trailer and soft ducklings
who knows what time has to say
who knows what life has to give
maybe the river loves me anyway
bring the key to my heart back home
where are you, My Love, am I on my own?
The opehes are just strong enough
to hang on to what they love
like the gypsies we move around
but blue leopards can never be grounded

stab me with your butter knife, I'll cling to my rock
pull me away but you can't take my heart
change me you may but I'll only transform
I'll be a mermaid from the sea
I'll be a broken opephe
and if it ever gets any better
I'll be a silver river leopard
turn me black, take my shine
I'll turn blue but I won't cry
blue leopard way out in the cold
Aki's collar now my own
let me wear your feathered sweater
let me be your blue leopard.

Poem of the Day

poet John Clare

I love to see the old heath's withered brake
Mingle its crimpled leaves with furze and ling,
While the old heron from the lonely lake
Starts slow and flaps its melancholy wing,
