Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
...
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.
...
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
...
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
...
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
...
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
...
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
...
The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
...
I do not love you except because I love you;
I go from loving to not loving you,
From waiting to not waiting for you
My heart moves from cold to fire.

Writing a poem is not about bringing some words together to create some charming sentences. It's so much deeper than that. Writing poetry is a bridge that allows people to express their feelings and make others live every single word they read. Poetry is to educate people, to lead them away from hate to love, from violence to mercy and pity. Writing poetry is to help this community better understand life and live it more passionately. PoemHunter.com contains an enormous number of famous poems from all over the world, by both classical and modern poets. You can read as many as you want, and also submit your own poems to share your writings with all our poets, members, and visitors.
O suns and skies and clouds of June,
And flowers of June together,
Ye cannot rival for one hour
October's bright blue weather;
When loud the bumblebee makes haste,
Belated, thriftless vagrant,
And goldenrod is dying fast,
And lanes with grapes are fragrant;
When gentians roll their fingers tight
To save them for the morning,
And chestnuts fall from satin burrs
Without a sound of warning;
When on the ground red apples lie
In piles like jewels shining,
And redder still on old stone walls
Are leaves of woodbine twining;
When all the lovely wayside things
Their white-winged seeds are sowing,
And in the fields still green and fair,
Late aftermaths are growing;
When springs run low, and on the brooks,
In idle golden freighting,
Bright leaves sink noiseless in the hush
Of woods, for winter waiting;
...
This wild night, gathering the washing as if it were flowers
animal vines twisting over the line and
slapping my face lightly, soundless merriment
in the gesticulations of shirtsleeves,
I recall out of my joy a night of misery
walking in the dark and the wind over broken earth,
halfmade foundations and unfinished
...
Place a small beat
inside the primal undulations
that an ocean
has come to know …
Mold the ebb and flow
into smoothened creases
that shape the time
into an oblivion's home..

Day #7: Vernal to Cortez
The next morning, I was on Rt #40 and headed from Vernal Utah to Dinosaur Colorado. I wished that I had had the time to go into the dinosaur museum again. When I was last there, over fifteen years ago, they had a fossilized dinosaur, and it was almost half uncovered from the side of the cliff where it was buried. They had built the museum around this discovery, and its walls connected right to the cliff on both sides of the dig. I made a bet with myself as I passed by that they had entirely uncovered it by now. It was hard to believe in this dry arid climate that the greatest creatures to ever walk the earth once roamed here.

When will we go home?
There are leafy avenues and vistas I want to see.
There are winding rivers I want to follow.
There are lakes I want to swim across.

Touched I am by your love, pure and tender
In your heart I sip the sweet dews of love
Sweet as Eden's apples, I feel splendour
On the wings of love we soar amid doves

Welcome to my web. It's kissed with dew
My teasing and taunting it calls to you
Then... when you least expect it-
My passion will kill you

Shadowy faces I see in my mind
Have I seen them before or will I in time
They seem so familiar, yet seemingly
unclear

Greater things lie ahead,
Far beyond every tearful sigh,
Ever sweetly lodged beyond
Espyings of the ordinary eye.

This heart that pounds excitedly becomes a tranquil sea,
Becalmed as soon as poetry begins inside of me!
When dreams and visions come to mind, unfettered, unrefined.
Then faithful phrases get combined so God can bless Mankind.

I dwell
In the absence
You left behind

If you die before me
I would jump down into your grave
and hug you so innocently
that angels will become jealous.

Lust is chaos, love is art.
