'.......all I ever learned from love was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya......' *
you'd think that I'd have known by now to stick around and see somehow the truest love's the one that sees right through ya
the one who's searched behind your eyes and touched your heart with sweet surprise and all the while was singing Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
this crowded floor is covered by the ones who chased the buzzin' fly found porpoise in the sea and overflew ya
but the mountain wasn't all that high and the canyons echo with reply to a beating heart that's crying Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
the agony, the ecstacy you know they've had their way with me and I can tell you've felt them running through ya
those things have made your voice so strong and added colors to your song so that every note you sing is Halelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
you sang your song so clear and true I trembled at the soul in you Guess you don't believe me now, or do ya....?
I say it now, I know it well if ever peals that joyous bell I'd ride through hell to hear that Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
Thankyou Tim and Jeff Buckley and Leonard Cohen for your inspiration and for letting me borrow some of your words and music......and add some of my own.........with love, D.
*melody is L. Cohen's tune 'Hallelujah' words in quotes at top of page are by L. Cohen/J. Buckley (most of the rest are mine, such as they are) ; =: }
not what I usually do, but I love that tune and just hadda do a little something......it's beautiful, quite beyond my words to describe...as sung by Jeff Buckley...you can find it on youtube as: Jeff Buckley-Hallelujah

Thanks sweet soul, for this creative adaptation of Cohen's memorable song that happens to be going round and round in my head at the moment. How blissful when souls connect through music and a shared compassion and agony/ecstasy. Your words add another dimension to the original. Never underestimate your talent. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ |
