Shade And Light Poem by Noreen Carden

Shade And Light

Rating: 4.3

and when the dark day comes
without invitation, the pain
lies thick around his heart.
Slowing its beat until it is
no more than a sigh.
His joy is chased away
and runs with steps fleet.
Leaving him standing bare.
and the river flows as
raindrops fall making ever
widening circles that swirl down
down to lie on the river bed
like some discarded dreams.

and when the good day comes.
Joy circles above him,
his breath is free.
The light air surrounds him,
dropping bright colours
in sweet harmony.
Yet still the river flows
as raindrops fall making ever
widening circles that swirl down
down to lie on the river bed
like some discarded dreams.

Of sad moments and joys and u sure wrote s great superb poem in metaphors creatively. I like how u employed raindrops and 'sweet harmony ' into the poem. True to life yet so readable. Thumbs up. Great to read u again.

Waves of good days and dark days take turn in our lives. They visit us without an invitation. Sometimes they submerge us and sweep us away, sometimes carry us afloat to a safe shore of sunshine and cool breeze. 'and the river flows as raindrops fall making ever widening circles that swirl down down to lie on the river bed like some discarded dreams.' - loved these wonderful lines, worth repeating!

Hi Noreen, please, tell me.. what about adding this poem of yours, ' Shade And Light ', to the compilation ''Our Chains, Our Dreams'', to be published as an ebook at the end of January/beginning of February? Let me know if you agree. OK? Thanks Take care Fabrizio Frosini

Noreen, stopped by to see if you had written anything recently, and didn't see anything new, so I hope all is well. Really enjoyed this pieced as it captures so vividly the struggle of depression. All the best to you! S

NOREEN, widening circles that swirl down down to lie on the river bed like some discarded dreams.................cool idea, well-expressed! like it. GEE! i guess you liked those lines also. i didn't know you were going to repeat them. well, some people say there is no such thing as too much of a good thing. [ i guess they never ate a party pizza WITH a carton of double fudge ice cream on the side..............in one sitting. ugh! but you got away with repetition here with no damage to you or your readers. What a difference a day can make! enjoyed. how are ya? bri :) ok. to MyPoemList.
