Ophelia’s Flowers Were Rank

Ophelia’s flowers were Rank.

Her flittering flighty fancy
For dear conflicted Hamlet

Shows not the stilled fortitude
The endless grit
So e’er present in the Prince of Denmark

Agitated by her girlish ‘devotion’
The emotion evoked in a senseless fit
Get she to a nunnery!

Get ME to a nunnery!

Have you seen no man more hell bent
More ghostly justice-sent on regaining
Virtuous social order
Unperturbed by poisons swords & borders?

Such determination & will
Makes mine heart swell
With admiration & praise
For his relentless focus unfazed

Like the seething vengeful Hamlet
How I wish I could see things through
To the righteous bloody end.
