Like I Knew It Would

Everything is happening
At a pace unlike my own
My response is not ideal,
Though fifteen years I've grown.

Say not what I am capable of,
Nor what I dare to do,
But focus on my prevailing flaws,
To weakness must I stay true.

Each day, I get closer
To the future I am worth
It is not clear what part I play
On this God forsaken Earth.

I know that I don't do it right,
Although I know I could
Everything is happening
Just like I knew it would.

Poem of the Day

poet James Whitcomb Riley

There! little girl; don't cry!
They have broken your doll, I know;
And your tea-set blue,
And your play-house, too,
Are things of the long ago;
