Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
...
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.
...
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
...
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
...
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
...
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
...
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
...
The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
...
I do not love you except because I love you;
I go from loving to not loving you,
From waiting to not waiting for you
My heart moves from cold to fire.

Writing a poem is not about bringing some words together to create some charming sentences. It's so much deeper than that. Writing poetry is a bridge that allows people to express their feelings and make others live every single word they read. Poetry is to educate people, to lead them away from hate to love, from violence to mercy and pity. Writing poetry is to help this community better understand life and live it more passionately. PoemHunter.com contains an enormous number of famous poems from all over the world, by both classical and modern poets. You can read as many as you want, and also submit your own poems to share your writings with all our poets, members, and visitors.
My love is like to ice, and I to fire:
How comes it then that this her cold so great
Is not dissolved through my so hot desire,
But harder grows the more I her entreat?
Or how comes it that my exceeding heat
Is not allayed by her heart-frozen cold,
But that I burn much more in boiling sweat,
And feel my flames augmented manifold?
What more miraculous thing may be told,
That fire, which all things melts, should harden ice,
And ice, which is congeal'd with senseless cold,
Should kindle fire by wonderful device?
Such is the power of love in gentle mind,
That it can alter all the course of kind.

Allie, call the birds in,
The birds from the sky.
Allie calls, Allie sings,
Down they all fly.
First there came
Two white doves
Then a sparrow from his nest,
Then a clucking bantam hen,
Then a robin red-breast.

I am an object to be used
I am an object to be abused
I am an object
Forever and today
I am an object with a conscious to think
I am an object and I think I can blink
I am an object
Forever and today

So far gone, a dead man walking
I'm running out of breath
It's all falls to grey
Always been led astray

Who whispers darkness in your ears.
Towers built only to have ghosts haunting them.
Some choose to wear masks to hide the truth.
Present the sword of truth for me to wield or to fall upon.

Since have seen your photo,
Have started liking you,
Have started loving you,
...
The voice within called to say, whispering into my ears slowly
You not of India but of the whole world,
You not of the whole world but of India,
"What? , " exclaimed I!

May mean the difference
Between a healthy, loving and caring
World
And a mean-spirited, ignorant and cruel

Falling into the Fall
Memories floating
Softly
To the ground

Enter if you dare
Ghosts are part of the territory of Halloween,
But these days you have to be careful about where you go at night,
People decorate their houses with cobwebs and plastic spiders,

Living in the shadow
of a man now gone
Darkness my betrayal
— shades of future past

Friday morning, October 18, 2024 at 10: 36 a.m. and continued at 10: 43 a.m. and 10: 46 a.m.; completed and published 10: 49 a.m.; my internet has shut down several times as I tried to write this excerpt, right up until almost 10: 49 a.m, and it is now 11: 30 a.m., and counting, this poem not yet appearing in the 'New Poems' listing as it should upon publication, almost one hour ago now …
More than half of my completed poem, completed at 10: 08 a.m. this morning, was blocked, then wiped to protect Kenneth Schweller, his spouse Jean Tinsley, and John and Sandra Madsen, the two 'power couples' at Buena Vista University In Storm Lake Iowa, and Storm Lake Police Chief Mark Prosser, who are responsible for the ongoing arrests and police attacks directed at my family members beginning in Storm Lake, Iowa, in the late 1990's and continuing right up to this moment, including the destruction of eight of our family cars, several assaults on my person and that of my sons Devin and Shawn Ryan over the past twenty-five (25) years, constant break-ins of our cars and our home here at 5901 Westcreek Place, Raleigh, NC 27606 … and many other heinous criminal actions too numerous to mention here.

I dwell
In the absence
You left behind
...
If you die before me
I would jump down into your grave
and hug you so innocently
that angels will become jealous.

Beautiful is the 'thank you'
Wrapped with gratitude,
Offered to peace prone people
Who offer what is real-themselves

Indoors by technology, outdoors by speedy transport
I travel the world
Today in Japan, tomorrow in Rome,
Next day by an ancient civilization or in Hawaii or Coast Ivory,

The low lands call
I am tempted to answer
They are offering me a free dwelling
Without having to conquer
