The Silent Sword

(April 2,1997)

Fading Of Memories

The cherished moments
I can't remember.
My mental connection
Has been severed.

The warm, happy times
Are lost and gone.
They're slipping away,
So hard to hold on.

The past, my memories, so
Broken and trodden.
They flow to the unknown,
Cold and forgotten.

But hope is still in the sky.
Happiness will be mine.
My wounds will be sutured,
As I look now to the future.

True, those memories are
Lost in the past,
But my newly made memories
Are bound to last.

Poet's Notes about The Poem

I honestly can't remember my happy childhood memories, or some of the people in them. It's saddening (and maddening) as I try to but fail, only to have a blank page. As a writer, I could use a blank page. =)

I’m sorry you’ve lost those wonderful memories, but this is full of hope. Oh, I really love it. Enjoyed reading. (Report) Reply

Beautiful poem, and it really gives me hope. I was seriously depressed all of today, and this poem just gave me a little bit of hope, which is all I needed. Thank you. (Report) Reply

poet Christina Georgina Rossetti

Where sunless rivers weep
Their waves into the deep,
She sleeps a charmed sleep:
Awake her not.
Led by a single star,
She came from very far
