Eyes - Poem by Humera Sultana

Deep lakes
Little boats
Out to explore love
With eyelids for
their oars.

When lifted
Full of worship
Tremble with the
Softness of love
And the lustre
Of prayer.

This poem is amazing. It so beautifully tells how the deep lakes that eyes are also act as little boats that are out to explore love using eyelids as their oars! The first stanza mesmerizes into a trance in which I see all that imagery with my own two eyes. The second stanza takes that ecstatic state into a spiritual realm where you make me visualize that when eyes are lifted, they are full of worship glowing with the luster of prayers. The most delicately written and winning lines are Tremble with the Softness of love. What a masterpiece of poetic elegance to say eyes tremble with softness of love, as that out of the world feeling one can only experience, put into such pretty words, and relate to if one has been blessed with love in life. I am not a fortune teller, but dare say you will be a stellar poet or rather already are. Pleasure to read your addictive poetry. Asking for more and more! Dr. Humera Sultana the pleasure was certainly mine in reading your captivating poem and in the poetic trance it took me, those words got inscribed as if my soul and not I was writing them to let you know about the ecstasy your poem brought (Report) Reply
