The easy catch too easy
Not the ultimate
Jagged edges all around
Understanding limited
Excitement only a moment fleeting
Not the slow yearning that builds
Compared to luxurious four course meals
It is fast food
But I'm hungry, oh so hungry
So long without sustenance
Fasting requires a deep faith
Restraint waits for the good
But a darkness still holds a corner
In a secret room
Sometimes a battle
To not give in too soon
Flesh screams piercing
Yet the soul does not swoon
Waste of time
Waste of energy
Crumbs to the poor at noon
Slumber with bellies empty
Endurance requires more
That which lasts past the moment
Satisfying to the core

poet Edmund Spenser

My love is like to ice, and I to fire:
How comes it then that this her cold so great
Is not dissolved through my so hot desire,
But harder grows the more I her entreat?
