Cop On A Rest Break … [very Short; Police Officers Taking A Work Break; Eating; Donuts ]

Rating: 5.0

Off you drive, you big, blue-attired, hungry cop,
with your siren & lights on, to the doughnut shop,
…so like a farmyard pig to a trough of porcine slop.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
"blue-attired": dressed in a blue ‘cop's' uniform

"cop": a police officer, female or male; most likely a fat male cop?

"doughnut": also "donut"; a fattening snack food

"trough": a long, narrow open container for animals to eat or drink out of.

One definition of "slop/slops":
liquid or wet food waste, especially when it is fed to animals:
example: We feed the slops to the pigs.

Years ago, especially when the U.S. was ‘involved' in the ‘Vietnam Conflict', some protestors of the war, or otherwise disgruntled/annoyed people would harass police officers by calling them "pigs".
And there used to be joking about officers taking rest breaks, during working hours, to visit donut shops.

This poem was inspired by a few poem comments left at my recently-submitted poem:

Bri's Seven Looooong Days

.....in which I said I wrote a note on a police car window and was put in jail for it.Readers asked what I'd written.Of course I was making up a story and hadn't really written a poem on a cop's window!

Farmyard pig sometimes amazes mind. This poem is very much humorous one!

I remember very well when the hippies and others would call the police officers " pigs" . In fact, a few people still do that today, at least on TV.

During this Covid time, cops have more responsibilities that they hardly get time to eat. (This is the case in India) No wonder, the 'hungry and angry' cop is heading to the doughnut shop with the siren and lights on! Interesting observation....! I can visualize the scene!

Bri, this is among your very best, perhaps because it is based on a reality. I remember back in high school days, when donut shops were in vogue....You just couldn't walk past one without seeing at least a few parked police vehicles in the establishment's parking lot.....ahhhhh memories. Great verse, Bri
