Comfortably in my casket I was resting.
Then Tom Allport said: 'arise', [only jesting].
But, to Tom's, and Valsa's, and Stuart's surprise,
I jumped straight up three feet or more. I tell YOU no lies.
It was like I'd been shot from a cannon aimed up at the sky.
I can't explain how it felt, but it felt good; why shall I try?
It was only a temporary arising, but it sure felt nice.
The funeral home noted it well, & charged twice.

Very interesting but unless one would not know the context of this poem would be fail to swing with its humour..... Thanks.... S. Nurul.
I had to laugh at that last line. Very funny. Thanks for making my day.
Afraid I cannot agree with Valsa, I firmly believed that the procession passed a sweet young thing and her perfume was the cause of your rising.
Now I read both the poems once more and read your reply to my comment on Fun Eral...! Had a hearty laugh! I don't think it was a miracle as the raising of Lazarus by Christ...! In all probability as the funeral procession was passing to the cremation house, you must have 'smelt' an ice cream vendor. (With the lid of the coffin shut, you might not have seen him.) ....! Now I regret the tears shed in vain....! You deserve to be charged twice!
