As Long As I Live

Not keeping any distance
He held my hand
And said,
“Baby you are all I dream about”
He looked down at me
Giving me his disarming smile
I stared deep into his eyes
And saw everything that I ever wanted
Noticing the dimple on his cheek
I smiled so sweetly
“As long as I live
As long as there is life
I promise”
I told him
He bent down to me
Placing his lips on mine
All over again
Butterflies kicked my stomach
“I am staying
As long as I live
As long as there is life”
He said
Taking me in his embrace
“You and only you
Are my last wish
And my first desire”
He told me
Whatever sense I had was lost
My prince charming was here
He came but not with a shining armor
As I have always dreamt
And not riding a white horse
As I have always imagined
But he was here
Carrying his heart and soul
In his hands
“These are yours
Please take care of them
Not only for me
But for you too”
He said
Tears ran down my cheeks
Taking out pieces of my heart and soul
“Let us exchange
You keep mine
And I will keep yours”
I told him

There! little girl; don't cry!
They have broken your doll, I know;
And your tea-set blue,
And your play-house, too,
Are things of the long ago;
