Treasure Island

Dilantha Gunawardana

A Verbose Begger

Venom littered by his Adam’s apple
A reservoir seeping of toxins
Draining in to the earlobes of passers-by
A beggar rich in verbosity
A foul-mouth littering even the minds of children
As he rants like a jihadist preacher
A tirade of hollow poisonous words
A blasphemous lexicon aimed
At the nonchalance of an indifferent god
As he searches for salvation in the solace of his wrath
An outcast rapping his anthem of fury
To sculpt his survival
In the chambers of sanity
