A Lasting Love Poem by Edwina Reizer

A Lasting Love

Rating: 5.0

I shall love thee all the days of your life
and when your days are done,
I shall love thee all the days of my life
and know that we are one.
Though I am here
and you are not
the love will go on
in each favorite spot
that set the spark of flaming desire,
never to be a burned out fire.

With every rising of the morning sun
I shall love thee for you are the one
that turns my mind to you alone
and how my love for you has grown.
It knows no end.
It's not in sight
and all the words
I can recite
reflect in brazen memory
every touch you ever gave to me.

These memories stay and never fade.
All of them I would not trade.
I treasure them now
and will keep them mine.
There'll be never a space
or never a time
that will come between the way we are,
no matter how close, no matter how far.
Let us carve our names on to a tree
so our love is imprinted for all to see.
