A fool's paradise


A fool's paradise
Is something to go back to
Every night we turn away
From a fool's hell
Where we have chased shadows
All day long
Sometimes watched with scorn by others
Chasing other shadows
Others have stopped chasing;
Under the trees the trunk,
Branches and leaves
Turn into shadow
Patches of night
For the foot-weary to turn in
Keep the sun away
Till the moon
A shadow of the sun
Rises with a fool's grin.
