Jojoba Mansell Poems

On bleak days, with leaden skies,
when you don't know where to begin.
Your head hurts and your heart cries,
look for the sunshine within.
...

A path is laid out ahead,
it forks before your feet.
A decision filled with dread,
uncertain of what you’ll meet.
...

A lion stole my pencil,
he held it in his teeth.
A lion with a pencil,
too much, beyond belief.
...

I strive to find a better me,
a person just and true.
I want to live and not just be,
to be decent through and through.
...

There’s a monster in my toilet,
all yellow fangs and claws.
It bangs against the lid,
and when you flush it roars.
...

Thunder booms through valleys deep,
lightning splits the sky.
Tonight the moon hangs blood red,
a disembodied eye.
...

I have a pet, it’s big and mean,
I feed it fish and chips.
It’s a T-Rex, all scaly and dark green,
huge teeth behind its lips.
...

There’s fighting in the duck pond,
the frogs have gone to war!
They’re punching toads and kicking newts,
they’re out to settle an old score.
...

I built a robot rabbit,
it’s made of my dad’s drill.
When I see it bouncing past me,
it gives me such a thrill.
...

Glasses full, they gaze,
not focussed, a thousand yard stare.
Twisting in their seats,
squirming under the intimacy,
...

My puppy can do magic,
it's ridiculous but true.
The toilet paper vanishes,
there's non left beside our loo.
...

What's that up there?
Beyond that tree!
That thing up floating high,
am I crazy or do you see?
...

A jelly ate my sister,
when she tried to take a bite.
She’s floating around inside it,
but she looks like she’s alright!
...

I could live this time forever,
make seconds last like days.
I could spend eternity on your lips,
lose myself in your gaze.
...

It will not be a palace,
nor will it be a shed.
It will be ours alone,
our kingdom, when we wed.
...

My shoes taste like fish and chips,
my socks taste like honey.
My hats all smell like bananas,
my wardrobe is real funny.
...

There’s a hamster in a Tiger Tank,
I saw it driving down the street.
Despite its furry features,
crushing cars is just not sweet.
...

That monster in my toilet,
it really went too far.
It bit my daddy’s bottom,
It stole my new toy car.
...

I had a sausage roll,
I rolled it down the street.
I used it like a pencil,
I tickled both my feet.
...

The tortoise wore a top hat,
to hide that he was bald.
He felt really self-conscious,
and hated being called.

The Sunshine Within

On bleak days, with leaden skies,
when you don't know where to begin.
Your head hurts and your heart cries,
look for the sunshine within.

After dark dreams of panic and fear,
when you almost break, almost give in.
All hope smashed, dreams far from here,
look for the sunshine within.

On foul days, with no rest in sight,
and you cannot force a grin.
Remember be calm, it will be alright,
you have the sunshine within.

I love the Monster in my Toilet poem. Isn't it funny how monsters have the uncanny knack of finding the most peculiar places to hang out, such as in a toilet or under a bed?
