Torn Tassle Poem by Soumita Sarkar

Torn Tassle

Rating: 5.0

Yes I loved you
since very long
before you could see
How much I adore

One call one day
broke my sleep
One puzzling leaf
pervaded my peace

A colored red flower
was your bower of words
That was made fragrant by
a loving tensed note

Amazingly my winged dreams
Flew high above the clouds
Only to make me cluttered
as my life seemed battered
Under those unexpected tears
when they ran to my wet fears

This bond is baggage
This clutch is cage
This band is bad
If I have to
feed my fortune's bag

In pain
In agony
I tore away the thread
Tassel loose hang of defeat
I let my reason victorious
crushing my heart to pieces
For my long wait
was culminating
My toils not in vain
My blood gave call
My sweat not waste
Success I 've to taste

And, the title Torn Tassle is a very apt metaphor. Love is worth nothing if it turns into just a tassle which could come between us and our goal, and needs to be torn away, deliberately.

Hi Soumita, A very poignant and serious poem about the conflict between the bond of love and the desire to succeed in one's career/life. It is about how one has to tear away a constricting bond to become free from the clutches of emotions. Love, of course, is the natural instinct which takes the world forward. That is why it comes naturally to every being (for other species, it could be just sex) . But world has taken quantum leaps only when intelligence and craving for excellence took over emotions. So, every human being is entitled to his/her space to do what he/she loves and succeed in it. A poem of deep conviction. An exquisite poem. I just added to MyFav poems, so I could come back for a re. And a hearty 100+++
