Tide’s Not On Our Side Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Tide’s Not On Our Side

Rating: 4.5

Things at times are
Not in our control
We plan it one way
What happens is different.

A sizeable group of
Adults and children
We went on a boat
For a birthday celebration.

Thru a narrow channel
Of crystal clear water
We went under a bridge
To snorkel, swim and enjoy.

Tour went well with
Beauty packed around
A friendly manatee*
Provided a delightful show.

On our way back
High tide picked up
The canopy of the boat
Turned too high for the bridge.

We were thus stuck
For hours together
Waiting for small boats
To pick us up to get back.

The boat and its captain
Were held up for the day
Waiting for the tide
To clear and get low.

*Manatees are gentle sea mammals native to
warm waters of shallow rivers and springs.
Manatees are also known as “sea cows”.
The episode occurred in Florida.

As the calm sea suddenly grows rough, the unexpected can happen anytime in life! But fortunately nothing serious happened other than the botheration, the sudden developments caused! From this bitter experience, you could bring out a beautiful poem! Thus there is a hidden possibility in everything!
