Sticks ‘n’ Stones: Harmful Words... [apology; Hurt Feelings; Short; Personal]
I’ve “said it ALL” (almost) , but I’ll say more …..
though I know some souls think I’m a bore.
Talk is cheap, so I do a lot of IT;
but if it cost me money, “it”, I might quit.
Oh, I’m not the only talker, by any means,
and [though much of it ain’t 'worth a hill of beans']
I like to think I say (now and then) something SMART,
OR even something full of kindness ……. from my heart.
BUT, of course, like other humans, I CAN cause Hurt ….
when, from my words, venom does squirt ….
onto another’s feelings ….., even those of my “Love”.
[Readers, please reread now “the above”.
Thanks.]
Then it’s time to cease my talking,
bowing to her order: “STOP your damn squawking! ”
Then, too, a LOT of groveling (by me) comes in handy ….
to smooth feelings out, and make, again, things dandy.
Years ago I heard: “Sticks and stones may break my bones,
but names will never hurt me.” It was a childhood rhyme.
BUT unkind words propelled with ugly tones ….
will likely hurt the target …… each and every time.

Related to this. We all of us have those slings and arrows of outrageous fortune flung at us from those who feel they have the right to be hurtful. Remember the pen is mightier than the sword but sometime I want to stick my pen into their hearts. Or my own when I hurt someone I love but angels we're not. BB
