Ode To Complacency Poem by Yasmin Khan

Ode To Complacency

Rating: 5.0

You rest on bed of reeds like an autumn leaf
Never with winds you go, no quiver, no trill
Stretch in comfort and breathe with a sigh of relief
Sleep in a shell, a world your own void of thrill
A sloth resting in canopy trotting drowsily
No fear of unknown rest in a comfort zone
No summits to scale staying in a drab cave
No grief, no sorrow, no tear, enslaved or free?
A living dead in the mid of life like a dry bone
A pool so silent no ripples no rave

Ever you drowned in wakeful anguish of the soul?
And sipped the nectar of gloom’s sweet flower?
Nay, not so you only drink from a quiet bowl
Float on dead waves recline in a shady bower
No ride on waves in world’s storm -troubled sphere
Spirit, spur, throb and bob dwell not in a heart like thee
Waters dull reflect neither image nor sparkling waves
The heart’s like a moorland sans sighs, woes and tears
Awake fill the cup with Life’s Liquor O, Complacency!
Cease thy repose, soar and stir in airs rave and crave

What a wonderfully crafted poem. I am lying on my ship having a tug of rum, and realize this poem was written for me. Excellent presentation, a great read.
