Not Me Poem by Poetry Falcon

Not Me

You get one
She gets one
Every random guy gets one
Third gets more

I get none
Yet so invested
A ritual you see
My religion it seems
Engulfed in your being

Knew from the start
Going nowhere
A bystander of your cruel life
So close yet so far
A passerby
Victim of your wicked soul
Dark maybe grey
A rough exterior

Acting at its best
No newcomer here
Been around you for three
Been around me for more

Feelings exposed
A canary between words
Trying to silence the bluebird within
A heart so fragile and gullible
Pretending to be numb
Mask the hurt with indifference
Hide the pain with arrogance

For she got one
Everybody got one
Even the random thief
A ritual without me

Perhaps there is one that fits you. Maya Angelou's, Caged Bird. If not read mine - The Bloom Of Youth - Adeline
