A flower never smelled so sweet,
As when it is under your fleet bare feet,
The birds never sang so clear
As when you stroll near enough to hear,
And the willow forgets to weep
When under its arms you sleep.
A star never shined so bright
As when it passed by you in flight,
The moon was never emboldened to stare
Until it gazed on your golden hair,
And this heart never has cause to weep
But when you close your eyes to sleep.
