My Mother's Daughter Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

My Mother's Daughter

They said I had stolen
The face of my mother
I behaved like her when
I got angry and tired
I reacted sharply to any
Wrong done to my kids
They said like her I did
Not take a nap after lunch
And did darn clothes
Like her I watered the
Plants humming prayers
And smiling at butterflies
They said like her I did
Check the doors locked
Tightly so that ghosts
Couldn't steal away the
Dreams of her grand kids
They said like her I gifted
My face to my daughters
