Me Because of You

All together through this rough
Now you leave me behind

Thought we'd stay together after
Tough that I've been left behind

But then you turn
Thought you were walking away

You say 'No, no
You're the one who's changed'

Don't seem to understand what you mean
'I'm not leaving you. You've already left me.'

I still don't understand 'What do you mean'
Say I'm brighter now
Say I'm tough
Say I don't need you now
What I am is enough

Say I do smile when you're not around
Going off laughing without you

Spinning and twirling
Glowing with glee
Dancing with the golden rays of sun

In the night
How the moon glows
How my skin always shimmers
And the stars illuminate the sky

'You've already left me.
Do you see what I mean'

And so I run toward you starting to weep
For I wouldn't be here if we didn't meet

I can't thank you enough
I won't even try

You're the reason that I fly
Soar through heavens
Glide through air
Walk on water
Glitter as they stare

I'm only me because of you

poet Charles Stuart Calverley

He stood, a worn-out City clerk —
Who'd toil'd, and seen no holiday,
For forty years from dawn to dark —
Alone beside Caermarthen Bay.
