M-A-Y 2018 Showcase ….[ Poems, (Usually) By Poem-Hunter Members; E-N-J-O-Y …or Not! ; I Enjoyed ]

Rating: 5.0

Ok! Though I've more work ahead, the title's done at least.
I've enjoyed reading poems, but NOW I've to create the beast,
which I fondly call my next (usually-monthly) poem Showcase.
I hope it is enjoyed by YOU and causes none to…. ‘loose one's face'.

This month I'll NOT try to balance, equally, poets of each gender.
And some poems may be a little ROUGH; others may be poetry, TENDER.
They need not be ‘newly-written', nor strictly, by Bri, confined ….
to a certain length, NOR topic, nor even language, you may find.

So settle down and prepare yourself for Pain OR Pleasure, …
poems written by poets ‘round the world; ALL to me are a treasure.
That's why I share them with YOU, though it may make me weary.
At least MY heart is ‘cold', so NONE shall make Bri's eyes teary! !

A Tribute To Lynn W. Petty (NOT A POEM)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Bri's Note:

My PH friend and very fine poet, Lynn W. Petty, 'messaged'
me about a week ago, telling of his move to 'hospice care'. He has
terminal cancer, I think of his tongue! What could be worse for a man-of-
words! ! ! Ok, maybe many cancers would be 'worse'. Lynn was absent for
from PH for several years after I first became acquainted with him here.

He served in Asia as an American teenager-sailor during World War Two.
So, you 'see' he is OLD! He may even be dead by now. This is at least his
second 'battle' against cancer, but, after 'enough' medical treatment,
Lynn has decided to be kept as comfortable as possible and forego more
treatments.

I applaud his decision and wish him well. Thanks, Lynn, IF you
can read this, for adding to my pleasure on Earth. When you die, I believe
you may well go "UP", while I plan to be headed "DOWN", if such things
really exist. I mean WAY UP and WAY DOWN! ! ! I'm feeling the heat now.

bri :)

p.s. Ok, I'll dispense with writing a tribute poem, as I feel my above prose
is sufficient.

THE POEMS [their complete texts, AND their authors' names, AND their 'Partial-links']

I've been kept from submitting the usual list of POEM TITLES and their TEXTS here by some unpublished-rule PH apparently has regarding 'un-allowable' characters in a 'poem'; SINCE my monthly Showcase is a poem to the 'eyes' of PH apparently, something in the 'list' I tried to submit must be 'un-allowable', but I don't know what it is (they are) .

I'VE STOPPED USING THE 'PARTIAL-LINK' METHOD TO find a poem on PH. That may or may not help. But my mate suggested that readers can simply do a Google Search to arrive at a poem's page [IF it is on PH already].JUST USE THE POET'S PH NAME, THE TITLE OF THE POEM YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, AND THE WORD POEMHUNTER.IT SEEMS TO WORK.GOOD LUCK! ! !

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
PH does not like US, the members, to put web addresses into ours poems; hell, it does not allow it.

I even had trouble when I could not get the word "" to stay in a poem which is submitted to my list of PH poems. The "" kept being deleted from the poem, so I substituted "on PH" and managed to get my meaning across.

But, all in all, PH is a great site with many great poets and poems on board. Now let me see if I can submit this dang showcase and the"Story" about it without a hassle! ! !

I HAVE PROOFREAD! ! ! LET ME KNOW OF ANY 'SERIOUS' ERRORS, PLEASE.

have a nice day. bri :)

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Bri Edwards 15 April 2018

THANKS, POETS and READERS! ! ! WELL NOW, I SEE i made at least one minor error above. in my tribute to Lynn W. Petty, at the end of the list of POETS, i typed for from PH for instead of from PH for. what a dunce i am! ! ! or..............did PH do it! ? ? and in my Poet's Notes, if you read it, you'll see how PH deleted my word online, leaving just in its place! so just substitute online where PH removed the word online. ha ha! ! (to continue) ..

(continued) ...but, to PH's credit, (i guess) , i fooled it with using spaces [something they, PH, recently have removed at times (the spaces between some words and words and punctuation marks, as i believe has been done in parts of this showcase) . (to continue) ..

(continued) ...AND i THINK 'they' also have fun putting spaces IN instead of taking them OUT, thus making one word into two words. but not so often! ! ! ha ha. : (: ( thanks to all the poets for providing the poems. usually i remember to thank them in the body of the showcase. duh! .....again. THANKS, POETS! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Bri :)

DEAR READERS, i'm stymied. whatever 'that' means! i mean PH gives me this message when i try to submit the whole showcase i.e. the part already submitted (above) and the list of Poems, WITH their texts, which i tried to submit today, ...............after slaving for hours and telling poets their poem texts were about to be added. (cont.) ..

Listening to the robotic reading of this poem, "equals, equals, equals…"===== is quite entertaining!

Thanks for putting a note about Lynn. I just read his poem about mortality. Heart touching poem. Not an easy thing to write about harsh and real facts of life. My best wishes to him.
