It seems we are here to destroy the earth
Killing the beautiful species one by one
Polluting the rivers, ponds, seas and oceans
Felling trees and plants so valuable to us
We take pride in addressing the neighbors
As enemies and killing innocent citizens
We take pride in the number of nuclear
Arsenals we have that will ultimately be
Used to wipe out life from this beautiful
Earth. We feel safe in stockpiling weapons.
Living in the concrete jungles we hardly
Get fresh air to breathe. Early morning sun
Is obstructed by tall buildings and there is
Hardly any open space to enjoy sunlight.
Sweet sound of birds, rustling of leaves
And whistling of wind is gone and we are
Living in the silence of our own extinction.
Our race is the biggest destroyer of earth and time will record this in golden words. Thoughtful poem 5*****
