I Can Remember Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

I Can Remember

I have already forgotten the road
I have travelled. Gravel of pains
Have often eaten away skin of
My soul that much I can remember.
I have kept the candle of life
Burning, even in the storms that
Came uninformed. That I can well
Remember. There was no clear sky
Where to I could fly and color
My wings like birds that pick up
Their domains independently. I
Had my branches marked to perch
On and wet my own fruits to be
Chewed. That I can remember. My
Heart is not ripe yet to scribble
Down a tune in His praise for
What I got and what I lost. I can
Remember I was not a believer
With empty belly and dull mind.
