Great Eagle Poem by Tirupathi Chandrupatla

Great Eagle

Rating: 5.0

Majestic bald eagle
Sat atop the pole
Surveying the waters
In the valley below.

With a mighty heave
He came down swiftly
To the water's surface
And caught his prey.

Fish had no chance
The talons tightened
Struggle was futile
As he flew to his nest.

Bald eagle is like
The wide winged Garuda
Who brings Lord Vishnu
From heaven to earth.

Bald eagle's the national
Bird of one country
And Garuda is the proud
Symbol of another nation.

Great eagles are looked
With respect everywhere
People are delighted by
Their speed and strength.

Garuda is one of our mythological bird and it has more importance in our religion and culture. Let us stay with Garuda to protect us from all evil. Thanks for sharing.

A delightful poem on the bald eagle.... a bird of regal elegance and swift movements! Enjoyed it!

Nice poem on how this mighty bird has fascinated two nations. In the Arabian deserts, the fascination is falcon. Both are in many ways related.

we have the wedge-tailed eagle in Australia; and an emu which looks a bit silly on our coat of arms

Garuda Darshan (viewing of eagles) on Thursday and Saturday is compulsory in our Hindu religion. When we were young we were asked to look for the eagles in the sky, so the elders could come out and pray.. sometimes it is very common scene in India, people removing their sandals in the middle of roads, looking at the sky and praying while the eagles are flying...nostalgic. Thank you TC..
