God Poem by Varun Sivashankar

God

Ever since we're born we're told,
There is someone powerful, wise and old.
He is the one who rules the land
He is always there to hold our hand.
Watching knowingly from up above,
Punishing sinners and blessing saints with love.
But today I question, 'Should it be so?
Should we believe in One we don't know? '
Live by your morals, think on your own,
Uninfluenced by a fictions force unknown.
Just for Him, your nature don't hide,
For the only God is the one inside.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
In this poem, I have tried to express my religious views. I am an atheist, but don't expect everyone to be one too. But one should never believe in anything blindly, and act based on what one feels is right- not simply out of fear of God. Your own conscience should be what drives you.
