Every Day Is A New Date, Dear Poem by Hebert Logerie

Every Day Is A New Date, Dear

I am not worrying about a new year.
Every single day is a brand new date,
For us to gleefully enjoy and celebrate,
From dawn to noon, until the night, dear.

A number is being added to a new year,
Everybody is excited, elated beyond belief.
This is too much for me to peacefully bear.
Let's awaken all octopuses under the large reef.

Before we know it, we will get used to this number.
Three hundred sixty five days will melt away,
Like butter on a hot surface. That will be a new day.

That will be another year to hope like a toddler,
Who's dreaming of a new toy, a new adventure.
Today is a new date to pray for a better future.

Absolutely true. New year is only a label people have put on a particular moment in a cyclic process, which is occurring naturally. Congrats for being he member's PoD. Thank you for sharing the thought provoking poem.

I can agree with you from one angle. All days are equal and have no difference. This is what you try to point out. Philosophically, this is true. Philosophically, all men are equal beyond all material and physical differences. Yet, changes are changes at the worldly level. Man welcomes, celebrates certain changes. It is only like celebrating our birthdays and wedding anniversaries. Strictly speaking, these are only certain dates and days and what is the purpose behind such celebrations? Man needs it. It is a psychological need. Life is after all a question of celebration and not leading a robotic life. See, we all know the triviality behind such celebrations but, human beings need it. Man hasn't become a complete philosopher as yet. We can see life from a mechanical angle as well as from aesthetic point of view. The choice is yours.

A fascinating perspective, some really great expressions and turn of phrases, my favourite being Let's awaken all octopuses under the large reef. Each day is its own celebration of life. Congrats on poem of the day, well deserved!
