Thirteenth year is the first teen year,
And that's a very crucial year for all,
From here begins the first step towards
Adolescence, whence comes life's turmoil.
You said everything started going crazy,
From this eventful turning point of life.
You said every night you went to bed,
With drops of tears rolling from a strife.
You wished tomorrows would just go away,
But tomorrows came, and came the miseries,
With pretensions of happiness you moved on,
Ignoring the sadness, and your life's vagaries.
'No one to really call my own, no one to care'
Were the words that fell heavily on my heart,
Wanted to hug you, and listen to your story,
Will you tell me, from miles and miles apart?
Beautiful poem on pain of teenager, which he went through..Loved its presentation.
Is this true? Then I wish I could be my age forever. My parents, my cousin, nor my friends mentioned any of this. But I loved how you weaved the poem together seamlessly. I especially enjoyed the last two lines; which leaves the reader wondering. Great poem!
I love it...when you said when thirteenth is the first of teen year, adding later wish tomorrow never come...you know when i was 13 i always wondering how to feel when i am 17, i will feel such a big people...but now back to present life, i am not chasing to be older but stepping back to the past...because i missed a lot of innocence, the sweet memories and time that forever golden to me...but it is a nature rule, time moving in one way only..loved this write_Soul
@ Cassandra Jasmine, What is written in the first stanza is not true for all. It's case specific. But 13-19, or 13-15 to be more specific, are the most sensitive years in one's life. Years of transformation from childhood to adulthood. The last two lines describe my instant feelings after hearing a sad story in outlines from a tormented soul.
@Ethan Ying, Thank you very much for reading my poem and sharing your thoughts on it.
@ Aqua Flower, Thanks for your comments and for sharing your feelings. I draw inspiration for writing poems from the real life experiences of my own self as well as of those numerous ones, known and unknown, shared through communications of various kinds.
Hmmm.... I'm 14, and yes, I just wish some of feelings for a certain someone would go away; I'm slightly old for her, and she pretty much hates boys. However, I love this poem. Especially the third stanza: You wished tomorrows would just go away, But tomorrows came, and came the miseries, With pretensions of happiness you moved on, Ignoring the sadness, and your life's vagaries. I'll give it a 10!
@ Laurie X3, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree with you.
