Darkness

Darkness is a quiet friend
That embraces me so tight
When doubts I cannot end
It helps me feel alright

Darkness is a faithful ally
That backs up willingly
Until all worries fly
It serves unendingly

Darkness is a brave comrade
That helps me hide the pain
Though I am hurt and sad
I feel so brave again

Though I'm so crippled
Though I'm very broken
Though I'm ever down
And very very torn

Why worry, why cry
Let all the problems fly
No need to feel so shy
With darkness I'll get by

Darkness is a quiet friend
Darkness is a faithfull ally
Darkness is a brave comrade
My friend with you I'm glad.

Darkness is a camouflage to cover innate thoughts and feelings.... it assimilate sentiments which actually lighten up the burden! (Report) Reply

This poem is so full of messages.
Darkness or forced loneliness may not be a cure.
But they give you time to rejuvenate, a certain chance to reassess.

    I like the writing.
    Well done.

I happen to love this poem. Darkness and oblivion helps me forget the sturggles and pains in my life. Reality is harsh and it's nice to escape. (Report) Reply

    In darkness you can hide,
hide you from the world and others' sight
But it cannot hide you from yourself.
And it is youself that you have to face.

Well..i can't help but answer back. Your poem inspires me. Yes, darkness is a friend when it suits you. It helps you redeem and pick yourself up, without having the eyes of the world that expects you to fall again. But beware, you can get lost in the darkness. So when you are brave enough again..step into the light my friend. Ahhh...I feel so good. Thanks again for another great poem. (Report) Reply

Naida, you bring forward an aspect of darkness that I never did give credit to.
Your descriptive words of faithful, brave, quiet friend. A wonderful tribute to
a part of our lives that gets a bad rap most of the time.. I love the bold way you
bring it forward.......... Thanks for the lesson......... Very good

the things and ideas are not bounded to just one angle. so do the darkness, for many it is painful whereas for others it is a source of peace.

Night is a part of our mind and soul, I also like darkness because I feel peace and harmony in its domain and it can expose me better than day light.you have captured the power of darkness and named it comrade, your faithful ally who helps to remove your hidden pain....in the symbolic way your darkness reaches till ultimate darkness..nice poem with touching atmosphere....

Good observation. When light of hope fades away, darkness works like a balm. It provides us more power to struggle.
    Very poignant write indeed.

A beautiful poem, honest and heart-touching. Darkness yes is a quiet friend but do you not often find that darkness can hide you away from the world? I often like to go walking in the dark along country roads where nothing can be heard and where fears fly away....as you so succinctly put in your poem.... darkness can be a bringer of loneliness but one is comforted by the dark ink-blanket! ! ! thank you Naida... your friend, Ruth Lavelle (Report) Reply

A sluggard with a thorn-choked garden plot.
