And the time came when the people
Had to rely on each other for help
Elderly had to be protected as well as
People who were weaker or had an illness
Everyone had to stay indoors.
The virus was slowly spreading at first
People started hoarding
Toilet paper, soap, everything they could
Get their hands on they bought
They were scared and foolish
And there was nothing left for others
And the virus kept on spreading
They were told to not go to work
Social distancing was the new thing
Only people in healthcare, or other vital jobs
Could go outside and work
And the people stayed home as much as possible
The virus spread steadily, contaminating as much as it could
The streets were empty and quiet
The people were trying to find ways to occupy themselves
Spreading joyto others
The elderly were feeling alone, with no one to visit them
Hospitals were filled with the sick
And at long last the virus looked around for someone to cling on to but there was no one left
Finally the people could go out again
The virus was beaten, they had won
The world had turn brighter and clearer and cleaner
The people promised themselves they would keep it that way
Really, we promise, we will keep the Earth safe, and clean from now on…
And new viruses were lurking….
