Keith Duperreault Poems

The windows have felt empty since you have gone
the roof hangs it's shingles low
and the willows branches scorn me for a fool.
The door refuses to lock..
...

Emotion is a sea of ships
those fragile hulls cross crested tips
sails full of wind, some torn and ripped
upon my mind this water blue
...

This baited breath that sleeps no more awakens slow to sighs
which stir beneath the icy reach where blossoms yearn for skies
that bask within the lambent glow sent forth from distant flame;
from fire to spark, a converse lark, ignites life just the same
...

In golden light, where dreams take flight, the sun's eternal kiss
embraces all, a fleeting sight, a summer's fleeting bliss
Of fields that hum with azure skies, in laughter's gentle blend,
where whispers soft on breezes rise, sweet thoughts to heaven wend
...

Out in the snow, the hallowed wind sails forth upon my skies
and reaches forth on playful wings; a sun beyond the rise
of frosted banks and sparkled waves that move without a sound
that promises no warmer dawn beyond the twilight found
...

In serpent skies and fragile dreams, a call upon the wild
that seeks to slink and slumber in a color painted mild
of red and gold and royal touch that hides beneath its skin;
an elder secret buried deep to dry the life within
...

And were my dreams unsinking ships
on sails of cloud and wispy blue
my earthly coil come unwound
would seem a simple time or two
...

8.

Dusty wind rains down upon mossy soil.
All around, vibrant sounds of the living
try composing a symphony in bright color
and wilting sighs

My Little World

The windows have felt empty since you have gone
the roof hangs it's shingles low
and the willows branches scorn me for a fool.
The door refuses to lock..
it says you may yet return to us
but I know you will not,
for the sidewalk watched you go
and it has never had reason to lie before.
The garden misses your gentle hands,
and it tells me I have not the green thumbs
to replace you...it always did favor you best.
A few clouds happened by this afternoon,
eager to hang around now that the sun was gone...
you could have at least left that behind.
You seemed in such a rush to go,
that you forgot to wake me...
and of course those fickle bedsheets let me sleep.
I tell them all I will be fine
happy here in my little world,
but for some reason I don't think they believe me.
