John McClay Poems
With these hands I will defend you. With these arms I will hold you. With this heart I will love you.
The Deafening Silence
Have you heard of the deafening silence? It rips though your heart And screams through your mind
On one beautiful day I wished upon a star In hopes that my feelings Would travel quite far
My Secret Garden
I dream of a secret garden Filled with roses And a bench that seats two
A Sealed Heart
I cannot think I cannot breathe Your arms are so warm It amazes me
From the lights above, to the lights below, our quiet stage, is a glow.
Collection of Eight Haikus
Man walks in the woods Sees a frantic animal He opens the trap
I wasn't supposed to be made like this
I'm all wrong! Somebody made a mistake Somewhere down the line
Where are you?
Where are you? Why can't I find you? I search and search In this darkness
The Tree of Desires
I made this world A world for you A place filled with love A place only we knew
A Gift of the Heart
I'll give you my love and ask nothing in return I'll give you my heart
I wonder what it would be like to be a star? Shining in the heavens, Watching over the world
These Words I'll Keep
In my bed I lay to sleep I hope some day These words I’ll keep
A dream catcher, made of wood and string Catches nightmares And safeguards good dreams

With these hands I will defend you.
With these arms I will hold you.
With this heart I will love you.
When the fear comes, I will shield you.
When the pain comes, I will heal you.
When the sadness comes, I will protect you.
I can see the sky-high walls you build;
They are as clear as day -
Even unbreakable. Almost.
For I shall not just stand at the base
of these walls and watch as you seal
yourself behind them.
No, I will not merely knock,
Try again, give up, and turn,
Never to see the real you again.
I will break down ...
