Dream Catcher Poem by John McClay

Dream Catcher

A dream catcher, made of wood and string
Catches nightmares
And safeguards good dreams

But these dreams I dream
Are only of you
A dream catcher cannot fathom them

I need something stronger
To safeguard my dreams of you
To destroy anything that may poison them

Can I have you?
Can I give you my dreams?
To hold in your heart?

Tread through my mind
Like you always do
And pick up those dreams

Protect them from evil
That tries to end my dreams
And hold them in your heart
