Janine Louw Poems

Little girl sitting in a big man's world
big men
sick men
filthy men
...

A teardrop fell into my glass of wine
as I tried to define
who I am and where I belong.
Long journey up ahead and left behind.
...

Innocence Lost
at what a cost
never the same
then came the blame.
...

Beauty is spoken
through every token
of love displayed
foundations are laid

Te bang om nee te se
begrawe onder redes wat geen stene vir my eie pad le
Te bang om op te staan
my denke wat my redes gee, te besaai met vrese dat hulle te hard gaan slaan
...

Sometimes to the valley
we go down and we lay
there for learning and for growing
like a tree that never stops
...

Brave little girl
in pain you had to curl
just like a mother bringing a child to this world
crouched down in pain
...

Born to fear
taught to fear
a people patented in fear
...

I want to know myself
be myself
love me for who I am
I want to see myself
...

Jy sien jouself soos 'n blinde wat sy oe weer vind
deur mis betrag jy die skadus anderkant die kind
jy smag om vry te swewe hoog bo die wind
hou vas aan hoop my liefling-liefste skadu kind.
...

Ek het jou gister gehoor se
jy wil graag iemand in jou lewe he
en die krieweling wat dit in my binneste los
is soos manna vir my gees, pure sielekos.

Little Girl

Little girl sitting in a big man's world
big men
sick men
filthy men
twirl her around their fingers
gifts and compliments abundant they bring her
little girl falling in a big man's world.

Little girl lying in a big man's world
white lies
dark lies
big lies swirl
surrounding her young life
the only way to survive
little girl crying in a big man's world.

Little girl screaming in a big man's world
loud screams
silent screams
empty screams heard
no one to take her hand
too young to understand
little girl dying in a big man's world.

Why does he like me
why does he touch me
curse me
embrace me
distastefully and painfully immerse me

Big hands
cold hands
dirty hands
filthy hands

Crying out
shouting loud
help me
drown me

Shame me
blame me
he framed me
and drained me

Don't talk
just walk
quiet voice
has no choice

Don't turn
just burn
in hell
I fell
faith dropped
it never stopped

Little girl can't get up
in a big man's world.
