I Want Poem by Janine Louw

I Want

I want to know myself
be myself
love me for who I am
I want to see myself
and know that I am truly free
to be me
I want to live my likes and my dislikes
and not fight anymore

I want to walk with my head held up high
and feel no urge to question why
not make excuses for being who I am
and not needing an attitude of 'I don't give a damn'
I want to smile a smile
that will last longer than just a little while
I want to touch someone and love someone
with eyes exuming feelings true and warm

I want to be myself
and not be afraid of who I am
to be my best, to give my all,
to see the love that through me grow
to hold your hand and give you strength
when you need me to do so

I want to close my eyes at the end of time
and have no frets and no regrets
I want live my life and know I've strived
to be the best that my Creator God had seen in me.
