and the thorns reflect a world in pain
the powers have been broken
and the children have all learned the game

You left green tomatoes
Under grey skies
As the day over-took us
There were no words goodbye

Old man sleeping in a cardboard box
with holes in his socks
came home to be locked out of his door
after he fought in their misguided war.

A voice comes from the darkness
with words of sweet delight
